Bray is an historic village in East Berkshire nestling on the banks of the Thames just to the south of Maidenhead.
It is an affluent village and a highly desirable place to rent or buy property. Houses vary from 16th century cottages in the tightly packed village centre, to sprawling waterside homes.
The beautiful, secluded, semi-rural setting and proximity to London also make it a popular buying and renting area attracting wealthy professionals and celebrities alike.
However, renting houses and flats in Bray often appeals to many potential residents, as buying in such a popular area can be costly.
Community
The village is bordered on one side by the river Thames where many residents keep their river cruisers or sailing boats.
Bray boasts a quintessentially English feel with Maidenhead and Bray Cricket Club and the historic St Michael's Church dominating the skyline.
Food is world-class, with arguably two of the country's best restaurants coming in the shape of Heston Blumenthal's The Fat Duck, and The Fish at Bray.
While there are a handful of businesses operating from Bray, there are no conventional retailers left in the village and residents have to travel to Holyport, Maidenhead or Windsor for their shopping and other needs.
Transport
Bray is close to Maidenhead train station which provides easy access into London, and Reading. The M4 motorway is also nearby. There is no train station in Bray.
Schools
Bray property is also made popular by Oldfield Primary School, which has excellent Ofsted and table reports. There are also a number of top secondary schools in nearby Maidenhead.
